30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 8

a place you've been to

note: I intentionally did not do day 7 because I honestly don't have a favorite movie that I feel very passionate about and could never do the day as much justice as this girl.

this is hard. because I have 2 places and I don't want to pick. so I'm not going to.

Mexico: laughter. smiles. Spanish. "muchachas". block parties. chickens at prayer meetings. sunsets. ham and cheese sandwiches. apple pie. Mama Tori. Saul. Mauricio.
a piece of my heart is still there.

Panama: stress. craziness. teaching. precious babies. movies. mall. bread and cheese. Super 99. floods. heat. JJ Heller. new friends. orange sweaters.

Te extraño mucho...

For weeks now I've been wishing I was at this place that makes me happy. As soon as this darn leg is better... and if maybe these girls would come back...

30 Day Challenge: Day 5

dia cinco
siblings

this should be easy.
I'm an only child.
Linds told me I could adopt her for the sake of this post, which I would gladly do.
but the "siblings post" has probably turned into one of my longest.

When you go to college, friends from home tend to fade. For the most part, this has been true.

Rachel. we first met in 8th grade. and hated each other. Somehow 9th grade changed things and we have been friends ever since. We've been through a lot. We've had our fair share of disagreements. But we have never met anything that some coffee ice cream, Dove chocolate, sour gummy worms, and Jesus couldn't handle. We can take it. She's held my ginormous prom dress so I could go to the bathroom, helped me pack for college when I was so overwhelmed by all my stuff, took care of me when I broke my leg, speaks Spanish with me, and even thinks I'm pretty funny sometimes, which is fun. Sometimes she lives with us, which makes her the closest thing to a sister I have ever really had.
Kelly. She is my mentor, role model, and friend. She makes the best cupcakes and food you will ever taste. Kelly has been through a lot with me. She has listened to me shed many tears. To most people, we have a strange relationship because she is 8 years older than me, but it doesn't matter. She is such an encouragement when I need it the most. She can see right through any lie I try to throw at her. She knows everything about me and still loves me. And even though I'm just a "little kid", she still actually wants to hang out with me. I will be content with being half of the godly woman that she is.

I moved onto A100 of Donovan with 20 something other girls, none of whom I knew.
I went from having my own room to living with a stranger.
I went from having my own bathroom to sharing with all of them.
I went from having my alone time to scrounging for it.
I had a hard time.
But somewhere along the way, I began to love these girls.
They were there when school got too hard.
They studied with me for big tests.
They taught me how to knit and we watched America's Next Top Model and The Hills together.
They were there when I cried.
They were there when I got my heart broken.
We laughed until we cried, stayed up way too late, goofed off when we should have been studying, and went to Waffle House way too many times.
In January of my freshman year I decided to rush. I never thought I was the sorority kinda girl, but, truth be told, I needed to get involved. I had some great girls on my hall, but I was alone too much. I wasn't sure I would pledge, but I wanted to meet people. I swore up and down that I would, under no conditions, be an Alpha Gam. First of all, their mascot is a squirrel and that's weird. Second of all, my aunt was an Alpha Gam and I wanted to make a name for myself. Then I met the girls. And I was sold. Every time I went to one of the parties for the other sororities I was nervous, wondered what I was going to talk about, and worries about making a good impression. But every night, the moment I walked into the Alpha Gam party, I felt like I could finally breathe. I was at home.

Everyone has their stereotypes about sororities, just like I did before I joined, but the truth of the matter is that these girls have made me a better person. They stuck by me when I made mistakes and never judged me. They helped me get through so much heartache. There was a time when I completely lost sight of who I am and what I was living for, and they helped bring me back. They encourage me, make me laugh, and love me unconditionally, no matter what kind of craziness I throw their way.

I may not know what it's like to have a real sister, but I think I'm pretty darn close.

30 Day Blog Challenge: day four

your parents

what you need to know is that my parents hate to be photographed. it's quite annoying, actually.
this is the most recent picture I have of the three of us. it's from my initiation into Alpha Gam. also known as 3 years ago. point and case.

I have the greatest parents. They are the most supportive people I know. They honestly believe that I can do anything I want to do and encourage me to do it.

I get my love of sending cards, little presents, and notes of encouragement from my mom. When I was in high school I almost failed Algebra 2. It was a terrible time in our house- tears every night, tutors, help from Coach at youth group, and more tears. I have had my fair share of heartbreaks, and my mom has never been short of advice and encouragement. When I first came to school, I had a hard time. For the first 2 years of college I got a card from my mom every week. We butt heads sometimes (probably because I become more like her the older I get...), but she is the greatest.

I am my Daddy's girl. end of story. He is my support system through school. When I have emotional breakdowns late at night, he is the one I call. He has shown me how I deserve to be loved by a man. He does a wonderful job of leading our family and our church.

Blessed. That's all I have to say about that.

senior prom
love them.

it also needs to be said that I take great pride in the fact that I posted this less than an hour after Linds did. I'm so on top of things.

meaning behind your blog name

It started out as Until Every Heart Has Heard. This came from a Steve Fee song called Burn For You. One part says,

"to the ends of the earth, to the farthest part until every heart has heard."

That line just stuck with me. It is so engrained on my heart to not stop telling the world about Jesus until every single heart knows Him.

Right now it says, "You are my passion." It's from the words to a Jesus Culture song. I have been challenged lately to really find what my passion is and live it out. He is my passion, and I want my life to reflect that.

first love

Like Linds, I was not a fan of this question. Because, honestly, I don't want to talk about it. Then I remembered a conversation I overheard in Starbucks a few months back and which sparked some thoughts on love:

How do people who don't know the Lord know what love is? The Bible says, "God is love." 1 John is full of what love is. How can two people who don't know who God is even begin to think that they love each other. They don't know what love is. and if I didn't know Him, I wouldn't know what it is either. I am so thankful for a Savior who loves me more than words can even express. He pursues me, rescues me, redeemed me, is faithful, thinks I am beautiful and perfect, loves me unconditionally. He is love in action. Every single day.

Cheers For Charity

Last week was our 3rd annual Cheers for Charity, our fall philanthropy event. It's a cheerleading competition where other organizations and groups can enter a team and all of the money goes toward the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation for diabetes research. It's still relatively new, but this year we had an amazing turn out and we raised $1500!

And we had a little fun too :)

Helloooooo, Fall

I so wish I could be the avid blogger that I used to be/ aspire to be, but school gets in the way of my whole life these days.

{one} midterm time. I can't believe the semester is half way over. my last semester of classes. so crazy! I turned in my internship (aka student teaching) application last week. Never mind the fact that I turned it in at 4:45 when it was due at 5. the point is that it is in. we got our student teaching assignments a few days ago and I'm going to be in Kindergarten! I am SO excited!!!! The idea of those precious babies is what will keep me going for the rest of the semester.

{two} I survived teaching 5th grade. And sometimes... I enjoyed myself. Do not mistake, I do not want to teach 5th grade. but I can. and that's all I needed to know. next week I will teach sped for 3 weeks and then 3rd grade for 3 weeks. I wanted to split this placement up because I feel like I need more sped experience. I'm really uncomfortable writing on my resume that I am a sped major with very little experience. it should be interesting.

{three} I graduate in 205 days.

{four} I also went on my first field trip to Elachee Nature Center. aka the true test of being a teacher. I think I passed.

{five} fall is officially here. this is how I know. perfect roof weather.

{six} Cosbie's mom got me this awesome fall candle. I'm in love.

{seven} I got this new double back. It's the first new one I've had since sophomore year. I'm real excited about it.

{eight} Today was North Georgia fall break so we had the day off and Hall County has Monday and Tuesday off so I have the full day Monday and half of the day Tuesday off too. unfortunately, strep throat invited itself to my fall break. not very happy about that at all.

{nine} Wednesday night has become my favorite night of the week because Wednesday night means Bible study night. some weeks they are what gets me through the week. I am so overwhelmingly blessed by them each week.

{ten} I'm seeing a knee specialist for a second opinion on Tuesday. maybe we'll get answers this time.

{eleven} the blog is under construction right now, so don't judge it by it's in between state right now.

happy fall, friends!
